Dr. Hans Bengtson is an Austin native who was accepted early into medical school, being in the top percent of his class. He completed medical school at University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas. He then pursued further medical training at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, one of the top programs in the nation. Dr. Bengtson helped to teach regional anesthesia to other residents during his final year of anesthesia training. He went on to complete his fellowship in interventional pain medicine at Wake Forest under the direction of Dr Richard Rauck, one of the top researchers in pain medicine. During his tenure there, he helped with pivotal studies on Ziconotide as well as spinal cord stimulation.
Dr. Bengtson is Board-Certified in Pain Medicine. In his spare time, he spends time with his family, travels and enjoys Texas BBQ. He is actively involved with many local non-profit organizations who give back to the community. He volunteers often at the grassroots level and has served on the board of directors for the AIDS services of Austin for 8 years. He enjoys live music and supports local bands as well as contributing to Health Alliance for Austin musicians (HAAM).
